Payments:

Credit card payment is required when registering for Continuing Education classes online. You may use MasterCard, VISA, or American Express. If you prefer to use cash or a check, you may register by mail or in person. View CE Registration Office: Location, Hours, & Payment Options.

Refunds:

  • If a student officially withdraws prior to the first class meeting, the student will receive a 100% refund; Motorcycle Safety is excluded.
  • If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, a student will receive a 100% refund.
  • A 75% refund will be issued (Self-Supporting classes with prefixes CSP and SEF are excluded) if the student officially withdraws prior to or on the 10% point of the scheduled hours of the class.
  • No refund will be made after the 10% point of the class.
  • The insurance, technology, and supply/lab fees are refundable only if a class is canceled or the student drops before the class begins.
  • Refunds are processed on the 1st and 15th of each month.

American Sign Language (ASL) is quickly becoming one of the most widely used languages in the United States. In this beginning class, be introduced to finger spelling and ASL signs, grammar, terminology and communication processes. Leave the class with an ASL vocabulary of over 200 words. A simple yet modern take on traditional music theory and what it means in the 21st century. Emphasis on ear training and practical application. Topics include the "classical" major and minor scales, the "Celtic" modes, and the "blue" notes. We will discuss the historical development of these scales as well as techniques to help you train your ear to hear them.

A deeper look into music theory and how it applies to the modern world. Emphasis on training the ear to hear challenging melodies as well as basic chord progressions. Topics include classical major and minor scales, the modes, and the blue notes, as well as spelling chords and chordal extensions. Discover the relaxing and creative art of crochet! In this beginner-friendly course, you will learn the essential stitches, techniques, and tools needed to start your crochet projects. Step by step, you’ll practice making simple squares which is a building block for blankets, scarves, bags and more. You will learn to read basic patterns and choose the right yarns and hooks. No prior experience needed-just bring your curiosity and a love for handmade crafts! To the first class bring a Size G, H, or I crochet hook and one or two skeins of Red Heart Super Saver medium acrylic yarn. Light to medium color yarns and Size H (5mm) hooks are suggested for beginners.

The course provides actual motorcycle operator training in a controlled, off-street environment. No experience is necessary; however, a good sense of balance is required (you must be able to ride a bicycle). To receive the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program endorsement card, you must attend one hundred percent of all scheduled course hours and successfully complete the skills evaluation on Sunday afternoon. Required gear for all participants: long pants (no rips or holes), long-sleeve shirts, over-the-ankle boots (no sneakers), full-fingered gloves, eye protection (sunglasses or prescription eyewear is permissible), and a DOT approved helmet. Motorcycles are provided for all students. At the discretion of the instructors, students who are do not complete the riding objectives, or are unable to safely operate the motorcycle and become a danger to themselves or others will be dismissed from class for their own protection and the safety of the group. No refunds will be given if you do not complete the course for any reason or if you register and are unable to attend. Space is limited, register early.
