Hospitality Club Attends Fundraiser to Feed WNC
October 30, 2019 On September 29, the A-B Tech student hospitality management club, with club advisor Walter Rapetski, attended the annual fundraiser for Backyard Bow Pro. This non-profit charity is working to build local networks of caring people to work together to curb food insecurities.
United Way Days of Impact
October 30, 2019 In October, 48 volunteers from A-B Tech (staff, faculty, and Transitional Studies students) participated in 5 Days of Impact projects in and around Asheville, contributing 144 hours of service to our local community organizations.
A-B Tech Hosted Free CarFit Checkup for Older Drivers
October 30, 2019 The Occupational Therapy Assistant program sponsored a free CarFit checkup on two days in October in the college parking lot across from the Simpson Building on Victoria Road.
Fall Semester Blood Drive on November 15
October 30, 2019 Our fall semester blood drive with the Red Cross is scheduled for Friday, November 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Coman Gym. Appointment times are available every 15 minutes.
Occupational Therapy Students Spend Summer in Service
October 3, 2019 Occupational Therapy Assistant Students completed three community service projects over the summer as part of their course. The groups worked with veterans and children, and young adults with developmental disabilities, to provide care packages and blankets for those in need.
Welcome, New Employees
October 3, 2019 Meghann Cooper joins A-B Tech as an Instructor, Nursing. Meghann has a Master’s degree from Western Carolina University.
Student Fill Empty Bowls
October 2, 2019 Chef Instructor, Stephen Hertz, CEC, and five first-year Culinary Arts students helped to serve soup for companies that could not attend and serve themselves at Manna FoodBank’s 18th annual Empty Bowls. The event on September 24 at the DoubleTree had lunch and dinner options this year.
PBL Students Place at National Leadership Conference
October 2, 2019 A-B Tech students Angela Lore and David Lore placed during the PBL National Leadership Conference in San Antonio. Angela placed first in Personal Finance, which comes with a $1200 scholarship.
